Verbania, born in 1939 from the union of Intra and Pallanza and related hamlets, is located on the western of Lake Maggiore just 25 km from StresaIt is the largest industrial and commercial center on Lake Maggiore and since 1992 it has been the capital of the province of Verbano Cusio Ossola.
But Verbania is not just this: it is defined as a "garden on the lake" for the richness of its gardens and splendid villas (the most shining example is the marvelous Villa Taranto). Thanks also to its accommodation facilities, it is an excellent international holiday centre.
What to do in Verbania?

An obligatory stop is certainly a visit to the gardens of Villa Taranto. Located in the north-west part of the Castagnola promontory, on the western shores of Lake Maggiore, are the gardens of the Villa, on an area of 16 hectares, created starting in 1930 by the Scottish captain Neil Boyd Mc Eacharn. The name of the Villa is a tribute from Captain Neil to one of his ancestor, awarded the title of Duke of Taranto by Napoleon Bonaparte. Considered the most beautiful garden in the world, with thousands of botanical species from all over the planet, it is a highly recommended stop for lovers of botany and good taste.
